Miami, Florida—February 9, 2006. The Design and Architecture High School (DASH) in the Design District in Miami sponsored a second showing of the educational documentaty, “The ABC’s of Eating Disorders” on February 9, 2006. The event included “The ABC’s of Eating Disorders” documentary presented by Producer Joanna Popper and a Question and Answer session with the producer; and follow-up by the high school guidance counselors. DASH invited the documentary producer back to the school to present the film and speak again after a successful event in 2005.
Art history teacher Susan Maguire said the “presentation today has already set in motion the formation of a school group on this topic sponsored by the guidance counselor. Seeing the students who remained to talk on-on-one with Joanna was deeply satisfying to me because they are the very ones identified as at-risk. She is a superb presenter, both empathetic and knowledgeable.”
“The ABC’s of Eating Disorders” Documentary is an intimate look at eating disorders with anorexics, bulimics and compulsive overeaters sharing their lives, stories and struggles. Health professionals from the Renfrew Center and Milestones in Recovery explain eating disorders, their causes, risks, prevention and recovery.
The documentary was made to increase awareness about eating disorders and encourage recovery. It is now also available with Spanish subtitles. Individuals, treatment centers, health professionals and schools currently have been the primary audience. The documentary is available on DVD at www.abceatingdisorders.com

Producers Joanna Popper and Arne Zimmermann created the documentary to increase awareness on eating disorders and encourage recovery.
