Davie, Florida—March 8, 2006. Nova Southeastern University sponsored a showing of the educational documentary, “The ABC’s of Eating Disorders” on March 8, 2006. The event included “The ABC’s of Eating Disorders” documentary presented by Producers Joanna Popper and Arne Zimmermann and a Question and Answer session with the producers. The event was part of a week-long series on eating disorders through the National Eating Disorder Awareness Event. The primary audience was psychology graduate students, some of whom have already worked patients with eating disorders.
Producer Joanna Popper said, “It was great to present to psychology graduate students and further educate them on eating disorders. It was fulfilling to be able to educate the very people who will make a big difference as they become psychologists and help people. Some of the students already have worked with patients with eating disorders. The students asked great questions and you could tell they were really committed to helping people with these issues.”
“The ABC’s of Eating Disorders” Documentary is an intimate look at eating disorders with anorexics, bulimics and compulsive overeaters sharing their lives, stories and struggles. Health professionals from the Renfrew Center and Milestones in Recovery explain eating disorders, their causes, risks, prevention and recovery.
The documentary was made to increase awareness about eating disorders and encourage recovery. It is now also available with Spanish subtitles. Individuals, treatment centers, health professionals and schools currently have been the primary audience. The documentary is available on DVD at www.abceatingdisorders.com
